In the current times of a fast-paced world, everyone around seems to be in a rush. Maybe it is time to pause the robotic lifestyle and think about trekking. For some trekking is a hobby, for some it is about enjoying the serenity while some do it for weight loss. Whatever may be the reason you choose to trek, trekking helps you learn about yourself, nature and life.

Bid a temporary adieu to your bustling life and go for an Everest base camp trek with Frolic Adventure. Gang up with a group of adventure-lovers and hike the Himalayas. Check out the itinerary and price details in their website. The common question trekkers have is about the packing list. They want to make sure they don’t miss out any must-haves.

    Your day bag essentials:

Trekkers generally hire porters to carry their belongings during their hike. You’ll have a day bag with you at all times during the entire trip which holds your immediate necessities like:

    • Extra layers of clothing
    • Camera
    • Umbrella
    • Tablets
    • Headlamp
    • Water bottle
    • Toilet paper
    • Snacks
    • Sun screen

Your duffel bag holds other things that you don’t need during your hike – clothes for the upcoming day, toiletries and other belongings.

    Clothing:

If you are trekking during the summer season, you won’t need warm clothes at the lower elevations. However, the temperature goes down at higher elevation. You’ll have to pack warm clothes to put up with the weather. The base layer fabrics can be Merino Wool or Capilene. Carry few long sleeve Tee shirts, a couple of long underwear pants and under wear.

When it comes to middle layer, heavy fleece jacket which can be zipped and unzipped with ease is mandatory. Pack long sleeve shirts, trekking pants, fleece pants and shorts. For the outer layer you’ll need a waterproof jacket, rain poncho to cover your day bag and waterproof pants.

Footwear: In addition to hiking boots, carry light weight shoes to wear during the evenings after you halt. Pay attention to hiking shoes as the wrong shoes would leave you in leg aches. If you are expecting snow, micro spikes would be necessary. A pair of long socks for every day of the trek is another important requirement.

Sleeping bag: You can choose to bring your own sleeping bag or purchase one in Kathmandu. You can also find sleeping bags for rent along the way.

Toiletries: Basic toiletries, tampons, hair brush, hair ties, hand warmers, ear plugs.

Paperwork and money: Don’t rely too much on ATMs. Have cash handy at all times. Have a couple of your passport size photos and passport.

If you missed any of the items, fret not! You can still purchase them in Kathmandu at cheap prices. They are not going to be branded goods but they are still decent. Ensure they are of good quality and the zippers work fine and the stitching is strong before purchasing them.

Have a great trekking experience by packing right. You’re likely to get addicted to trekking after your maiden hike in the Himalayas.
