You look at your phone and see it’s Monday again. The moment the weekend was over, you started making plans for the next weekend getaway. The anticipation of the weekend might be just what pulls you through the weekdays. But, does it sometimes happen that you plan a lot, get excited for the plan to take shape but alas the plan never even starts? Does your plan involve your friends and most of them bail out at the very last moment and thus start the cycle of cancellations and in the end, you are left alone? Yes?  Not just sometimes but most of the time? Then, my fellow weekend enthusiast, you are not alone. We have got a solution for you.

    Ever heard of a staycation?

Staycation is staying at your home and travelling to places within a short distance so that you don’t need to stay out in a hotel and can return home. Why staycation? First and the most important of all, it is pocket friendly, it cuts down the cost of staying in a hotel and travelling. It does not require much planning and thus you have a blank canvas with possibilities of visiting and doing anything for the day. Also, it supports the local economy and you may find some long-forgotten place in your city, who knows? All this aside, if you like spending time alone, then a staycation is the best option for you. If you’re going alone, there is no possibility of anyone cancelling on you. So if you really plan a staycation, no one can come in your way of enjoying your weekend, it’s just you all the way, to the weekend getaway. Another benefit of a staycation is that you aren’t exhausted at the end as you are on a normal trip due to not enough sleep and a long travelling period.

Now you know what is staycation and why you should choose staycation over long trips. Here are some ideas for a staycation :

The best thing about a staycation is that it can be anything. You can go watch a drama. You can visit an art or even a history museum. Go to nature and enjoy its beauty, go to a nearby beach, a nearby farm, a lake or a forest. Love outdoor sports? Then grab your bicycle and go cycling, go hiking with groups or just go skating. Take your ride, go on a mini roadtrip and discover your city a bit more. Maybe hit some of the food spots that you saw on a youtube channel or read in a food blog.

You now have the holy grail of not letting your weekend go to waste. Always remember that staycation is for you to enjoy and be present in the moment, so turn those phones and other gadgets off for a day. In the end, try to fully enjoy and relax, for when any staycation ends, the planning of the next starts.
