• Stay like you mean it.

If you love the culture and history behind wine as well as the taste and the feeling of it then a stay in a Majorca villa. How are those two ideas connected? Because Majorca has one of the best wine scenes in all of Spain. Coming to this beautiful island isn’t just a night in a box hotel, it’s an experience to be savoured, like a fine wine. Imagine a beautiful three bedroom villa with you and your friends, vineyard hopping during the day, enjoying the nightlife in the evenings and then coming back to your private luxury home. Continue the party with dinner cooked by a private chef by the pool or relax in the sumptuous bed with en-suite bath.

  • Quality over quantity

Space on the island is minimal so that forces the winemakers to produce less. Here their focus is on quality rather than quantity. Because of this Mallorcan wine is rare as the majority is sold and consumed on the island or shipped to other countries in Europe. For wine lovers a visit to the wineries or Bodega as it is called in Mallorca is definitely worth it. Many bodegas offer tours and wine tastings.

A modern Bodega called Son Prim is located in the centre of the island. It is one of the smaller wineries on the island and produces small batches of high-quality wine. You really haven’t been to Majorca until you have had wine from Son Prim. On a tour of Son Prim you will learn about wine growing and winemaking in Mallorca.

  • Local is the best

In the centre of Binissalem is a wine shop called Vins Can Novell. A very traditional bodega that has Mallorcan wine at unbeatable prices. Many residents and restaurants come from all over the island and buy wine here, you can even bring your empty bottles to fill up.

  • Time tested and easy to reach

Bodega Macià Batle is in the small town of Santa Maria. As one of the oldest and largest wineries on the Island they really know what they are doing. Produced since eighteen fifty six, visitors come from far and wide to sample their wine. Just fifteen minutes by car from Palma or 20 minutes by train from Plaza de Espana and the train stop of Santa Maria is right next to the bodega.

After a tour of the facility comes the tasting. Depending on the weather, it takes place either inside the shop or on the terrace. Four to five different wines are available to try and all are served with crackers and house made olive paste.

  • From wine to wine

The biggest tip to offer here is to hire a driver or just a car (and a sober driver) to explore the beautiful countryside in between the wineries. Relax in the back and focus on the tasting and your company instead of how to navigate the roads. Local drivers are affordable and know the areas very well.
